junior high...
for part of PE in junior high (8th grade?), we had to break into groups and choreograph a dance number. my friends and i created a routine to this: pump up the jam by technotronic.
"music isn't just a pleasure, a transient satisfaction.
it's a need, a deep hunger; and when the music is right, it's joy.
love. a foretaste of heaven. a comfort in grief. is it too much to think that perhaps God speaks to us sometimes through music? how, then, could i be so ungrateful as to refuse the message?"
- orson scott card
"music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto."
- ralph waldo emerson
"...and i thought about how many people have loved those songs. and how many people got through a lot of bad times because of those songs. and how many people enjoyed good times with those songs. and how much those songs really mean. i think it would be great to have written one of those songs. i bet if i wrote them, i would be very proud. i hope the people who wrote those songs are happy. i hope they feel it's enough. i really do because they've made me happy. and i'm only one person."
